The Position:
Reporting to the Victorian Vehicle Processing Manager, we have an opportunity for a dynamic and experienced Operations Manager to assume responsibility for the day-to-day operational activities of our Vehicle Processing Centre in Webb Dock, Port Melbourne. You will possess strong leadership skills, the ability to develop and implement successful management strategies and identify and implement changes to raise the standards of safety, service and performance.
This role will suit someone who thrives on working in a fast-paced environment and is able to make decisions regarding daily operations in an agile and changing environment – defining how our people, facilities and financial resources will be allocated to achieve our short and long-term goals. This is an opportunity to make the role your own. Automotive industry experience will be considered, but it is not essential.
What you will do:
Operations
- Liaise and interface with clients and Client Liaison Officers to ensure timely vehicle processing and end to end managed delivery of complete, quality-controlled vehicles
- Control of site administration, production and sub-contractor functions
- The generation of daily and weekly operational site reports, while levelling off production volumes and consideration of productivity targets
- Challenge existing practices & promote planning efficiencies. Conduct analysis and use historical data to assist in identifying resource improvement opportunities
- Actively participate in activities such as audits and performance improvement initiatives, constantly striving to identify areas for improvement
Culture and Business Growth
- Motivate and lead the operations team to achieve high standards of performance, coaching and mentoring individuals, and identifying development needs
- Support the introduction of new business
- Perpetuate a positive, pro-active, team-based culture within the operations team through regular and effective communications
- Lead operational activities and provide input into the OH&S component of the Business Plans and function as a mentor in key areas such as site safety and culture
- Promote and support continuous business improvement initiatives
- Ensure that the needs for training, quality of service, housekeeping, facilities, conformance to customer specific standards, company policy or statutory requirements are achieved
Financial and Performance Measures
- Propose, justify and coordinate capital expenditure and project at site level
- Optimise labour efficiency and utilisation
- Cost control and containment to budget levels
- P&L reporting and analysis
- Timely preparation of reports for presentation to internal stakeholders
- Review customer requirement, operational planning requirements and provide capacity planning input.
What you will bring:
- A proven conscientious operational leadership style with a passion for effective processing operations, HSEQ & service delivery.
- Ability to engage with team members, management and customers at all levels and utilise your relationships to achieve operational KPIs and efficiencies.
- Demonstrated background in superior operational performance and people management
- Strong P&L financial acumen is a must
- Experience as a hands-on operator who can make decisions on the run
- Ability to take ownership, can operate independently and sees things through to conclusion
- Well-developed MS Office skills
